Re: George Thorogood & The Destroyers

Here's a great performance of ''The Sky Is Crying''. Georgie really lays it down on this one. Some real nice guitar playing...

I like some of GT's songs, but overall I'm not too big a fan. One of few rock artists from the 70s that my dad just didn't like ("his music was meant for women" as he said once. I assume that Thorogood was all about making music to attract the ladies or something  )

Re: George Thorogood & The Destroyers

I owned a couple albums when I was younger but never really went out of my way to find any since.

Re: George Thorogood & The Destroyers

Listened to a lot of Thorogood in the late 80's/early 90's. Had most of the studio albums, but ultimately, the live album got the most play. Got to see him live in Austin back then, and they didn't disappoint.

Wonderful soundtrack for poker parties and drunken soirees. PLAY LOUD!

Released on June 14, 2011

The 2120 South Michigan Ave. title refers to the address of the offices and recording studios of Chess Records in Chicago. The album contains ten covers of songs recorded on Chess Records by artists such as Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Willie Dixon, and Muddy Waters plus a cover of The Rolling Stones' instrumental "2120 South Michigan Avenue" and two original songs about Chess Records artists. Capitol Records approached Thorogood with the idea for the album and selected most of the songs.

1. Going Back
2. High Heel Sneakers
3. Seventh Son
4. Spoonful
5. Let It Rock
6. Two Trains Running
7. Bo Diddley
8. Mama Talk to Your Daughter
9. Help Me
10. My Babe
11. Willie Dixon’s Gone
12. Chicago Bound
13. 2120 South Michigan Avenue

I never got into his works that much, except the hits. Infact, the only song I can honestly think of right now is "Bad to the Bone", which was somewhat of an anthem for us hillbillies when it came out.

Magic....pick up his first two albums...you won't regret it.

It's bass ass shit.

If rockin' blues is your thing, you won't be dissapointed.

George's first two albums are blues rock classics.
