Coming from Canterbury the Third Ear Band started out as a psychedelia/experimental/improvisation band playing on London's club circuit in the late '60's under the names of The Giant Sun Trolley and the Hydrogen Jukebox. However all the bands equipment was stolen and thus they went acoustic and changed thier name to the Third Ear Band.
This, thier second release, the s/t(a.k.a. Elements), released in 1970 after thier groundbreaking debut, Alchemy in 1969 is considered where the term "world" music was invented. Psych-folk/Indo-prog/jazz/acid raga is contained on four tracks from the album, all acoustic with strings(cello, violin, viola) and horns(oboe, recorder) and percussion(tabla) based on the four basic elements of medievil alchemists. Adventurous in both style and instrumentation.
