Favourite songs by bands

I found a thread in the Graveyard section of this forum where the original poster gave a list of bands or singers and other posts gave their favourite songs by each of the bands listed. I liked the idea and though it might be interesting to do something similar, especially with so many people joining the forum in the meantime.

The names of the bands I've chosen should be familiar to the vast majority (if not all) on here.I've split the bands up geographically into sections for US bands and those from the UK & Ireland (feel free to put your favourite from any other country in the world as your bonus!). All of them started in the 1980s or earlier. I do prefer to strictly stick to bands rather than solo artists in these kinds of thread, although I'm not bothered if anyone wants to choose a solo artist for their extra song.
