I've watched the video a few times and it looks like Hamilton was tossing the ball to another guy with a glove and the fan that fell aggressively tried to get the ball.

I've been in that ballpark many times. I'd never even go close to the edge of the stands as I have an immense fear of heights. I'm sure his family will get some sort of settlement hopefully. Maybe?

I'm deathly afraid of heights. never used to be but a number of years ago, I went to Hoover Dam and that alone was enough to put the fear of heights into me that I've never gotten over.

I'm trying to watch the video on espn.com, but it just stalls. Sad to hear this news though.

That is tragic, and what a waste to plunge to your death for a baseball. I am surprised it doesn't happen more often to be honest, fans get drunk and rowdy and that is never a good thing.

As far as a settlement...every ticket you buy to any event has a waiver attached putting the responsibility for what happens on the fan, within reason of course. I have no doubt a smart lawyer will be hired by the family and they will get compensation.

Next thing might be netting like the ones in Hockey arenas to prevent fans from getting hit by the puck, to keep fans from going over the edge.

Horrible. And struggling to stay consciousness long enough to take care of his son. That and the little boy seeing it all just tugs at my heartstrings.
