Any fans of Emperor here? Surprised there was no thread for them actually. I just picked up the Anthems album and enjoyed all of it.

I'm not a huge fan of Black Metal overall but there are a handful of bands (other then Black Thrash ) that I really like a lot. I'd have to say that Emperor is definitely at the top of the Black Metal mountain, IMO. I have all four of their CDs and really like the first three a hellva lot.

Nice thread Riff :grinthumb

Cheers man. I will add I am way more a death metal fan judging my CD library but decided to dabble with some bands most consider Black Metal classics. And with Emperor I agree with them, nice mix of symphonic and traditional black metal.

Ihsahn is a Metal god. While I find myself playing his more experimental solo records more often nowadays, I still throw on Anthems & IX still get regular airplay.

It is a hard pick for favourite of the 3 albums I got which is Nightside, Anthems and now Equilibrium. I might get the Promethus album to truly gauge which album is the best. All are phenomenal black metal albums.
