A few years back I went to a series of oldies shows that featured doo-wop music from the 1950's and early 1960's and ended up really liking some of the songs even though they were a little before my time. So I thought I would start a thread to post some of my favorites.

I'll start out with three from Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers:

Teenage Love

I'm Not a Juvenile Delinquent

I Want You To Be My Girl

The Students - I'm So Young

The Desires - Rendezvous With You

Roy Tyson - Oh What a Night For Love (1963)

These are some of my very favorites. I'm sure I'll post more from time to time, but I'll start with these. If anyone else likes old doo-wop songs, post away!

Here are a couple more from Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers:

Why Do Fools Fall In Love

The ABC's Of Love:

Of course a lot of these old groups are gone forever due to old age and death, so a group called Kid Kyle & his Kool Kats was formed to perform these old songs and bring back the old music. A young man named Kyle Flandrau had the right voice for this music, and the crowd always loved him and the experienced musicians and singers in his group. Here they are performing "I'm Not a Juvenile Delinquent" as part of the oldies show. I filmed this...

Another song I liked is "Please Say You Want Me" by The Schoolboys

And Kid Kyle gave that song a powerful new voice to a grateful audience in 2007, which I was part of, again filmed by me...

And that's my 50's flashback for tonight :)

I mostly like the hard straight forward rockabilly rock from that era ie eddie cochrane, jerry lee, and very early elvis.

I love this song...

P.S. - Kyle could take you to school on the subject of doo-wop music. He would conduct doo-wop quizzes with the audience during his sets. He was a prodigy of Ronnie Italiano...

Edit to add this clip of him performing "I'm So Young" with The Students (not filmed by me):

I am a big fan of the Drifters.

Their first hit, "Money Honey"

This song is still a popular hit "Under the Boardwalk"
