We are going to lose legends at a faster and faster pace over the next few years and it is sad to see.
I'll take a different tack, it's bad enough that CD's never lived up to their promise, due to many factors but the realization that many of the major record labels are abandoning them and going all digital downloads(Damn you i-tunes!) is the fatal blow for me as far as collecting music goes.
The only ray of light I see is if the Bands themselves offer Hi-Resolution(24-96) downloads from their own sites, otherwise excluding the handful of small analog/vinyl labels the entire industry is going to be changed for the worse forever.
The passing of Davy Jones and Levon Helm hit me the hardest this year. We lost so many greats, Donna Summer, Dick Clark, Don Cornelious, Robin Gibb, Ronnie Montrose, and on and on. RIP one and all.
