I have some of their live stuff that is pretty good the solo stuff by Mark Knopfler is even better check out Goldenheart the albumhe put out. And I just saw him live at the beginning of this month. He was outstanding. A must see live.

Yeah, i'll agree that two or three songs are great. they had a few others that are alright but other than that their just ehh... Lets see...
    1) Money for Nothing
    2) Sultans of Swing
    3) Romeo and Juliet

Those are the only good ones i can think of now. However Mark Knopfler is a freakin' great guitarist!

I think they were ahead of their time. They had great riffs and sweet sound. Did they fall from the earth? I haven't heard much about them anymore?

Mark Knopfler is a fanatastic guitarist. He has a great finger style, and it is a rarity among rock players.

    :bump:

Mark Knopfler dissolved the band in 1995. He just didn't want to tour anymore. I doubt they will ever reunite.

Brother in Arms was their best, IMO.

Really liked Dire Straits when they first came out. The debut album had such a unique sound to it and was a good rock album released when punk rock was becoming big.

    Favorite albums:

    Making Movies
    Dire Straits (Debut)
    Brothers in Arms.

Haven't really followed Mark Knopfler's solo career.

They were okay, but I never liked them enough to buy their music.
