They formed when Dion Dimucci joined The Belmonts, a Doo-Wop group that originated in the 50s.

Their breakthrough came when "I Wonder Why" reached No. 22 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and the group appeared for the first time on American Bandstand. I remember these guys, but there were so many of those "Doo-Wop" bands back in the 50's sometimes they blur together for me.

Love me some Dion! As a teenager when others were listening to prodigy or whoever, I'd get drunk and sing Runaround Sue at parties with my friends :)
