Band: Devin Townsend Project
Album: Ki
Reviewer: Prime & Cunishment
To start off, if you are really into Townsend's more...metal side in his projects, you probably won't like this release too much. BUT, if you are willing to be a bit open minded, this album is perfect for you. This album uses his more mellow/subtle personality in the form of music. I don't want to say it sounds jazzy fully, but there are some parts of the album where I would classify it as a very blue-sy/jazzy sound. It's got a very calm and easy to listen to atmosphere. Not a whole lot of screaming like you would hear in Synchestra or with him in Strapping Young Lad. A few songs have screaming, but what can you expect, it's Devin Townsend, it's full of surprises with each song. All around great album though, and ridiculously underrated.
The one song that sticks out the most (to me), would be Coast:
