How would you rate this album?

Don't like Meshuggah at all, so I'll sit this dance out.

Brutal, raw and powerful. Tech/prog/thrash metal. Excellent.

^^Exactly why I don't like them, not my kind of metal. I don't mind some of the music though, I struggled through Obzen twice before I gave up on this band.

I won't vote Joe, out of respect but I did try to listen to them a couple of years ago before concluding they are not my cup of tea.

I respect that LG. I have to listen to a album at least three times before it give it a rating. That's part of my criteria. Listening to a couple songs from youtube doesn't cut it.

^^Almost 3 years ago a young friend of mine from Iceland was introducing all kinds of metal bands in a forum I used to frequent. We got to be good friends and he would exhort me to listen over and over and over again to the black/death metal bands that he loved, and told me I had to "Force Myself" to listen until I started to like the bands....

Of course his forum name was "Death" so that was to be expected and he was so earnest trying to turn me to the "Dark Side" it made me smile.

I agree I never sound off until playing something from beginning to end in sequence a few times, however the 2nd time though Obzen was enough Meshuggah for me for my lifetime so that was it for them.

I missed this one. I voted great. Very difficult to listen to the whole album. It's too much. But some of the songs are fantastic. Saw them live a few years ago and they were Brutal!!
