I'm not gonna lie, when I realised it was Def Leppard headlining the bill of Motley Crue and Steel Panther, I wanted to cry in disappointment. Though a quick butchers at the tickets and it's not quite as expensive as I thought...

Unnecessary sulking from Joe imo, I think they do get the respect they desserve. Maybe if they had kept up the quality of music to match their first three albums they would be lavished more praise, I know I lost interest in them (after being a big fan) after Hysteria - they just went too commercialised for me.

exactly... but i disagree... their first [4] albums

They deserve respect for their albums up to Adrenalize but not for any of the garbage they produced after it.

i actually didn't mind hysteria to be honest... i owned and i played it to death as a virginal 18 year old

but adrenalize seemed a carbon copy of hysteria. i was awfully disappointed when i heard "lets get rocked"

i guess they were playing it safe?. were any of their post 1991 releases pop metal also?

Just a radical change in sound in general, pop metal probably sums up a couple of the latter albums, they just haven't produced good songs since Hysteria at least.

I think Adrenalize was the last album they did with Lange. Not sure, but he isn't their producer now.
Would have been better to stick with Lange.

Joe is 100% right this time, but he comes across as a crybaby complaining about this sort of thing in an interview.

He also makes it a point to slag at least two or three bands in each and every interview he gives with the press, which doesn't exactly promote an image of humble or classy.
