Re: "The Official" Decemberists Thread

Just recently bought my 1st Decemberists CD, The King Is Dead and I have to say it is one of the best new albums that I've bought in a long time. I've listened to it straight through about 5 times now and every time I hear it, I have a new favorite song on it.:grinthumb

Right at this moment it's Rox In The Box.

Or Calamity Song.

Or Down By The Water.

There'll be 3 different favorites tomorrow.:cheers2

^Down By The Water is absolutely incredible. The whole album is incredible. I'm listening to Picaresque at the moment, but i'm going to listen to The King Is Dead afterwards. It's a Decemberists night I think.

I'm still in love with The Hazards of Love. As much as I like The King is Dead, HOL is, and will be, my favourite album for a while. The whole "Margaret" saga is just a delight to my ears, there is some soaring female vocals and just all round good music! :D

^^Are you a die hard romantic Sal...:hm:

:heheh:

The Decemberists are one of the most enjoyable bands I've discovered over the last five years. I hope they stay together and continue to release high quality albums for another ten years.

^I think they'll stay together for a while. You can sense their chemistry as a band in their music. I would love to hear their next release be more along the lines of The King Is Dead. That album is folk rock perfection. Hazards of Love falls in 2nd on that scale in my opinion.

^^Met any nice eligible ladies in your new home yet??

I know looking at the map the Great Barrier Reef is close, and there must be some really nice beaches nearby which also means....well you know.;)

Nice yes, eligible no :( Though the hairdresser I talked to today seemed pretty cool.

And yes, the reef is pretty sweet in more wyas than one! ;)

Re: "The Official" Decemberists Thread

while this is a great version, I don't consider it their best version. Part of the charm of this song is seeing it live with a whole audience acting along. nothing like a sea of people rocking back and forth like they are at a boat at sea. :)

Agreed, 'til then, could you post it/ I 'd love to see it!
