Probably the best jazz musician of his generation, he was just a giant for over half a century, in jazz fan terms this is like rock fans hearing that Paul McCartney just died, so words fail, there will be countess tributes in the media from people far more qualified than me, all I can say is thanks Mr Brubeck for some of the greatest American music in history...
