Cover songs that are substantially better than the original

Ok we're looking for realy good covers of the songs that you can't even listen to the originals.

This was one of my favourite blink songs so I was kind of surprised (and a little disapointed) when i found out that it's actually a cover. I was mutch more heartenned when I heard the original and realised that it doesn't hold a candle to the Blink version

First one that comes to mind:


Jimi Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower. The cover is a bazillion times better than that drab Dylan version.

Sometimes even though a song is better to you it also makes you realize the writing in the original wasn't bad especially when they strip it down to it's bare essentials. I love the cover but also appreciate the original.

As much as I love The Beatles I don't like their With a Little Help From My Friends, but Joe Cocker's version is fantastic

OH yes I agree. I had a huge arguement with a few of my friends over this one. The Beatles "with a little help from my friends" is a good song, Joe Cocker's version is amazing

"Hey Joe", which was first recorded the folk/rock band The Leaves, Jimi Hendrix did an excellent version but I prefer Deep Purple's version from Shades of Deep Purple.

I actually think Roy Buchanan's version of "Hey Joe" is the best version.

Love Johnny....but, that song was made my ears hurt....

that was bad....as in, not good....

NIN version was even worse.
