Jagger and Ronnie Wood insist that “Miss You” wasn’t conceived as a disco song, while Richards said, “‘Miss You’ was a damn good disco record; it was calculated to be one.” In any case, what was going on in discotheques did make it to the recording. Charlie Watts said, “A lot of those songs like ‘Miss You’ on ‘Some Girls’ … were heavily influenced by going to the discos. You can hear it in a lot of those 4-to-the-floor and the Philadelphia-style drumming.”

I tend to notice stories slowly changing after going on a site like newspapers.com and work chronologically to see how they shift a story where they were the main character.

Not a big fan of 'Some Girls' though I think Some Girls and Whip are solid Stones fare.
I sort of gave up on them after Only Rock and Roll. For me they turned into a parody of themselves without being aware of it.
"Miss You" being one of my least favorite things on that lp.

"Tattoo You" was the most recent album I can say I liked by them. I had it as a kid, but later found out some of the best songs were recorded in the early 70s. I like a song or two from the next couple of albums, but I still listen to them. I had a chance to see them in concert years ago, but didn't want to go alone.

I grew up with bands like the Stones and Beatles being an old guy.
Saw the Stones on 7/26/ 1975 on Jaggers 32 birthday at IU Assembly Hall....the day before was my 24th birthday. Good show but I thought they were a bit sloppy ,but they have always been that way from what I have heard.
There are some good tracks on all the later lps as you pointed out ,but I mostly listen to the early ones like Beggars, Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers and Exiles. I also like their early Brit pop rock songs from 64-68.
