Chuck Berry (Official Thread)

[dr wu]

Great songwriter and guitarist and the Stones and Beatles owe a lot to his foundational style but other than a few songs I never really got into his music much. I enjoyed the harder edged cover versions by other bands more.
But if someone puts on Berry while we are drinkin a beer and listening to music I aint gonna leave the room.

Chuck was 'real Rock & Roll he lived it!. Chuck 'invented' Rock & Roll' (some say Little Richard) and he only played a gig when the '$$$ bucks were in the bag' and was even 'busted' and jailed for a year or two before resuming his musical career back in the early 1960s now that's Rock & Roll plus he didn't pay for a 'road band' to perform with him cos he would just show up in a town and expect the local musician's to know his stuff already now that's ROCK & ROLL dudes..

I posted this once before about 10-years ago but about 5-years prior to my post and also about 5-years before Chuck 'checked out' of this life in 2017 I saw a Chuck Berry gig advertised and it wasn't a tribute act but 'the man' himself set to play in some back street pub/bar in London's east end which was strange to say the least but having said that its total ROCK & ROLL dudes 'the master' still playing in a down 'n' dirty back street pub at the age of 85 and still doing 'the duck walk' across the stage while playing Johnny B Goode wow now that's real ROCK & ROLL!!!.
