Drummer Chris said:I find Chicago's sound harder and rawer in the 70's, very much due to the time period of honest sounds coming from the band. The 80's songs were good as well but much more slick and commercial sounding for the most part.
Terry Kath played some pretty raw guitar at times in the 70's band and the rythym section was pretty rockin' as well, the horns prettied up the sound some.
I think they deserve to be in the Hall of Fame,Chicago's hits from the 70's are timeless and the 80's ones don't tarnish the rep too much. One thing I can say is that Cetera's voice is amazing overall, he is one of the best singers out there, check out his first solo album from the early 80's....great stuff.
