At least this and Sonic Healing are better than what he was doing before which felt like light almost Christian music.

Obviously his singing is great, but musically, this is so lightweight compared to the Riot V albums, where TMH REALLY shines. This style is so restrictive to what he can do, and it really holds him back vocally.

Kind of reminds me of some of the lame stuff Michael Kiske did mid career when compared to what he did in Helloween.

It's geared towards a classic rock sound more than a metal sound so I'm not surprised it would feel lighter than the Riot V albums.

Oh I get it. It's a different style for sure, but I think it's a limiting style for his vocals.
I think if you listen to this, you come away thinking, Jeez he's a good singer, but after listening to Riot V, you come away thinking holy shit this dude's amazing!!

I definitely owe the album a solid listen though. The Doctor sounded really cool.

Did you ever listen to the Reverence albums? I heard one of them and it was my first experience listening to Todd Michael Hall. Oddly enough, I really didn't care too much for that album.

Yes. Actually heard them before he joined Riot V. I have the first one on CD. Other than Todd’s pipes, they’re really not that great. His vocals are way more refined and controlled on the Riot V albums.
