Catatonia


This is a group that was introduced to me by a friend years ago and I was remoinded of when looking for 90's Brit Pop groups for Dave78's thread! I have to thank him for getting myself refreshed for them! The band is from Wales and has some great fusion of pop, celtic and punk pop with a heavily accented female vocalist!

Great thread Soot and Stars, I like the band, great vocals, I remember seeing these in a pub when I used to work for a record shop and the Warner Bros rep got us in for free and signed the band up that night. I like her solo stuff too.

That's awesome Sweaty! Seeing a band right as they get they first get signed is a once in a lifetime experience!

You should! I like them all but Strange Glue is the one I keep playing at the moment!

I didn't notice this thread, wonder how I found it huh Soot?

Cerys has terrific voice, so distinctive and very sex kitteny! And I loved her collaborations with Space and Tom Jones.

Mulder and Scully and Road Rage take me right back

I have 'International Velvet' and 'Equally Cursed And Blessed', they're both pretty cool

I heard a rumour not too long ago that Cerys Matthews is doing a Welsh language solo project nowadays, I don't know whether or not this is actually true though as I've never actually looked into it.

And as an aside, not all of us Welsh girls are so heavily accented

I think she released two versions of the same album, one in English and one in Welsh last year or the year before, and then recently released an album of traditional Welsh songs.
