Absolutely love this band. Saw them play live back in the late 80's and they were fantastic

Re: Candlemass

A band that I didn't really dig when I first heard of them...but now I like 'em ALOT! Funny how things work out.

But it's been wierd..I started off heavy and got poppier and have gotten back to heavier and more so the older I get.

:heheh: :oy:

Re: Candlemass

Funny MP, about the same happened to me - have always been rock and classic metal (+ all sorts of other genres of course) but the older I get the heavier my metal seems to get...

I know Epicus, Grey Islands and Death Magic Doom - good stuff.

Re: Candlemass

The first four albums are pure classic (doom) metal albums. Death Magic Doom was one of the best 2009 metal albums. A real hit for me. Since 2007 King of the Grey Islands album the new singer is Robert Lowe (from Solitude Aeturnus, another great doom band). Very good replacement for Messiah. :grinthumb

They have a DVD being released this year (I think it's in December?) called Ashes to Ashes Live and an album is due next year. Awesome news!

Re: Candlemass

Great band! I like classic/epic doom metal with clear vocals, not growl. More to such groups, where the singer is really singing!:)

Re: Candlemass

These guys are one of my all time favorite bands and Messiah is definitely one of my all favorite vocalist as well. I own Epicus Doomicus Metallicus, Nightfall,
Ancient Dreams, Tales of Creation,Candlemass, King of the Grey Islands
Lucifer Rising and Death Magic Doom on CD ,so everything w/ Messiah and Robert Lowe on them . I also own three of their DVDs which I believe is all of them .

I unusually don't come into this sub-forum as it kind of makes me feel as if I have been banished to the dungeon for liking metal lol or I would have posted in this thread long ago. Anyone who is into heavy rock and metal who is ignoring this band is missing out BIG TIME.
