Here's another band that was important in the early development of heavy metal music, Budgie a power trio from Cardiff Wales that never got the attention of Sabbath and Zeppelin, but boy can these three guys play. If you're not familiar with them you are in for a pleasant surprise.

Official Website

Albums:

1971 Budgie
1972 Squawk
1973 Never Turn Your Back on a Friend
1974 In For The Kill
1975 Bandolier
1976 If I Were Brittania I'd Waive the Rules
1978 Impeckable
1980 Power Supply
1981 Nightflight
1982 Deliver Us From Evil
2006 You're All Living in Cuckooland

Burke Shelley - Bass and Vocals
Tony Bourge - Guitar
Raymond Phillips - Drums

Here's Homicidal, Suicidal considered an early heavy metal classic, off their 1971 self titled debut.

I always loved this cover, such a contrast to what awaits you.:D

Re: Budgie

I'm not sure you would like the music Flower, unless you like Sabbath etc. Yeah they are hard to find for sure, if nothing else you can download the cover and print it as a poster.;)

Re: Budgie

They are pretty decent. I have the Bandolier album from 1975.

This group reminds me of Free or Uriah Heep. I like the music, but I am not thrilled with the vocalist. His voice just seems out of place, he does a much better job with the slower songs..He sounds female :D

I really like this song from the Bandolier album, but couldn't find a decent video so you will have to click this link to hear it:

Re: Budgie

He's been described as a cross between Robert Plant's style with Geddy Lee's voice, but I don't mind his vocals.

I have that one the debut and two others Magic, like Flower I think the cover art is pretty cool.

Re: Budgie

He doesn't even resemble Geddy Lee at all, IMO. He sounds more like David Byron from Uriah Heep, to me anyways.

I only have this album by them.. And I forget just how I came across the band.. It was way back in the late 70's I know that.

Re: Budgie

Pretty good band. Have Power supply and in for the kill I think... Laying around here somewhere... For some reason I burned those to disk and removed them from computer... I think they were for a friend but I never gave them and now I listen to them myself. :D

Impeckable & Bandolier are my two favorites from Budgie!!

I still remember back in 82-83 driving around in my buddy Ray's camaro blasting this over & over.
