Load bongs, not guns

Bongzilla is a stoner metal band from Madison, Wisconsin. As their name suggests, most of their material is related to marijuana and promotes its legalization. The band formed in 1995, and over the next three years recorded and released a dozen songs on EPs and split singles. In 1998 they signed to Relapse Records, and have since released four studio albums and a live album through the label.

"Influenced by the medicinal powers of THC and a love for wicked grooves. With a Sabbath-on-downer-encrusted sound that blends billowing rock, clenched-teeth blues and an underground punk attitude, Bongzilla fire up thunderous mega-rock with a pronounced emphasis on the "big riff." The band’s latest album, 'Gateway,' showcases a Bongzilla sound fertilized ten-fold - simultaneously aggressive and mellow - with thunderous percussion, smoke-seared vocals and infectious, fuzzed-out riffs baked to perfection."

My Take
x The guitar and bass is hot and heavy. Tempo changes that slip in and surprise you instead of boring you with a repetitious flow. You'll either like the vocals or dislike them but don't let it stop you from listening to **** killin' Zilla. A band to **** up to, and appreciate. For you non-tokers, the riffs and fuzzy tones will get you high without mary jane's enhancing help. Every stoner band has something different about them despite the similarities that group them into the stoner genre. It's the distinctive qualities that seperate them into their own. I'm not flatout telling you because the amazing part about it is finding out what those qualities are through your personal listening. Take your ears on a journey and enjoy every lengthy minute of it.

Re: Bongzilla

Awesome thread Grunge.

(Eargasm Metal). I saw them live once, good show.

I could skin you alive for saying that. I'm the one to say "I've seen them live" but no, I can't even say it for one of my favorite bands. When they tour again surely they'll end up in Seattle. Another reason to get back there since absolutely no one comes to the midwest and when they do it's Missouri or Kansas and not Nebraska. Do you recall the set list?

Hahah oh thanks Grunge. I am glad to see you would skin me alive for saying that haha.

Nope do not remember it. I was not a fan of theirs when I saw them. The live show got me into them.

What a ***** that is, when you get into a band AFTER seeing them live. I made sure to not do that again since one of my first shows. It's routine to listen daily and memorize every song before seeing them. Without doing it to a point of getting sick of them of course. Which cannot be possible of happening with bands like this. That's when you know you're a huge/true fan, like you and Nirvana for example. Or Nirvana and I (everyone who knows me knows that fact). No hiding it there.

Hahah I know exactly what you are saying.

There are many bands I do not get sick of, Nirvana, Dead Kennedys, Flipper, Wipers, Fang, etc etc.
