Re: Official Blue Cheer Thread

Both songs are really good (I knew Summertime Blues) but on the downside it made this possible!

My grandmother loved/loves this guy and I heard that insipid song constantly! Love her though! :D

Definitely one of the first Heavy bands in rock and roll, I have their debut but that is it. I only have one complaint with some of the bands from this time period, the production value on some great albums is lacking, and I do like good production as a rule.

Still they are considered pivotal to the advancement of the hard rock/heavy metal movement.

I was absolutely floored the first time I heard Outsideinside 25 years ago. One of the few albums I term "slab" heavy. A little tighter musically than Vincebus Eruptum though VE was a "loud" statement that had a big impact on heavy music that was yet to come. Groundbreaking!

Blue Cheer seems to be somewhere right between Hendrix and Anthrax IMO:heheh:

They really hit the heavy note early on, and had a groove.. they really are such a cool band.. Obviously Summertime Blues is a favorite, This one's cool too.. very heavy:D

Original Human Being
released in 1970.

I find it comforting that Blue Cheer had their own sound although you can definitely hear some Hedrix influence :D I think the production of their music was better on some of the later works.

A couple of my favorites.

Parchment Farm just rips IMO. I used to dislike the Satisfaction cover (a lot of reverse recording and giggling), but after putting it down for a long time I listened to it again recently. The drums sound like fat footed elephants comin' at you.
