Blackwater Park ~ Dirt Box (1972)
Germany Hard Rock, Prog Rock
BASF Records

Holy smokes, this whole album is a hard rocker! Is it ground breaking, no, but it rips it up for 1972. Honestly, I don’t get the “prog” connection, but the music compositions are more thought out, and longer, than other hard rock bands of that time period.

One’s Life….hitting it hard & fast…

Indian Summer…….bluesy & funky..

Rock Song….the closest you will get to prog, but close only counts in horse shoes…

Akerfeldt loved this band.
Interesting Opeths 'Blackwater Park' lp got better reviews on Prog Archives than the actual Blackwater Park 'Dirt box' lp. Listed as 'Krautrock' on Prog Archives.
Akerfeldt is a big fan of Porcupine Tree and Steven Wilson and they are friends who have done some recording together.

Have you heard Opeth’s Blackwater Park lp? It’s really, really good, IMO.
