Wasn’t Prince trying to get out of a record contract or something when he was identifying himself as the odd symbol on one of those albums?
There are a fair number of 'intentional' bad lps or 'middle fingers' given to record labels...

Another in that same aspect of fulfilling a contract was Aerosmith’s last album, Music From Another Dimension, which contained some songs that never made the cut during the 80’s & 90’s. Not a rancid album, but not good either.
