Big 80's Production = Less Intelligence??

So for people that dislike that sound...here's my question...if you're a HEART fan, let's say, and like hate that 80's polished sound...would you like the song ALL EYES..if it had the same sound production like Little Queen had

That one would sound WAAAAAYYYYY better with a 'stripped down' production. I think I might like the song then yeah.

Todd's Swing to the Right. I couldn't find the whole album (there are plenty of live versions), nor is there much by comparison as he was using compression on vinyl in the seventies:

Mutt Lange was very guilty of making things sounding overproduced.

Yeah. That would work. Sometimes (as with The Screaming Trees) you can hear the quality of the song through the production mud. That sounds like it would be a good song if you could only hear it.

Big production?... Imagine U2 and Depeche Mode without a decent producer in the eighties. Bringing all the pieces together should be done in a tasteful manner. Besides pop music today seem to lack any themes during production.
