* One album - one band.

* Must be a studio album

* Please post the year of release

* Rock...no metal, please.

Not that there's anything wrong with heavy metal.

I'll be back with my pick later...

A very easy choice for me, "Permission to Land" by The Darkness.

Going muli-platinum, spawning several hit singles, and earning a slew of high profile awards. The fact that The Darkness managed to explode onto the charts in 2003, a time where 70's glam rock had virtually no chance of being successful, really is just a testament to how good this album really is.

Well, for me personally, it's the 2002 posthumous release by George Harrison, "Brainwashed"

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

I don't have a copy myself unfortunately (I used to have a not-so-legal copy years ago, but I've lost all my not-so-legal music a while back and never really been motivated to rebuild that part. I need to buy this one though) but I still listen to all the tracks on YouTube etc. It's a great album:

Right up there will All Things Must Pass as far as George solo albums go IMO. Many posthumous albums seem to be a bit rushed or sub-par, but this is easily an exception that proves the rule :)

"no metal" :wa

Last 20 years (so anything from 1990 to now) Ok, then without thinking about it too hard, I'd have to say:

Guns N Roses - Use Your Illusion II (1991)

Personally, I don't consider GnR to be "metal" but more or less just hard rock. However, if that is considered to "hard" for the purpose of the thread, then without thinking too hard about it, I'll take this gem:

Prince - Diamonds and Pearls (1991)

With all taken into consideration, I think the biggest allround contender for me would be this little album:

Hmmmmmm, this is a tough one! Well, there's Born Suspect, and then there's Never Scared as well as Roll With The New! So hard to pick but I think this one wins it :grinthumb:

Some "Pearlers" already posted, and here's an album that helped rekindle my interest in newer rock music.

The amazing 1997 CD from Radiohead, most likely my pick as album of it's decade as well.
