Reading those lists really takes me back, I have London Calling rated as the best album of the year, but I thought it was released in 1979.

Some interesting categories they have as well..:grinthumb

I thought it was 1979, that is what my copy says.

I also like the Pretenders winning best new band, that whole breakdown of 1980 is pretty accurate to how I felt, with a few exceptions of course.

Good on Van Halen for getting the 6th best album AND being the 2nd worst group of the year.

Tell ya what, I wouldn't mind living in a time when Kiss, Van Halen and the B-52's was as bad as it got  :heheh:

I think there was one year '78 or '79 where Kiss won the Best Group & the Worst Group!:heheh:

I can't believe they picked "The River" as best album of the year, that was a terrible record, I bought it and then gave it away to one of my friends.

These kind of summaries are fun to read, even if I don't put much stock in them.:D

Overall, I think that that is a pretty good breakdown. I think that Joe Strummer deserved to go into the "Hero of the Year" and "Best Songwriter" lists, though. Also, by that point, the Rolling Stones could hardly be considered an R&B band.

Still nice lists, though :grinthumb
