Hey Kath, STATUS QUO's latest album " Backbone " in 2019, reached #6 on the British Chart, it cracked the Australian Top 100 for a couple of weeks without any airplay or media promotion, just word of mouth. It is their first album since the death of RICK PARFITT on Xmas Eve 2016. RICK was in STATUS QUO for 50 years.
STATUS QUO haven't been forgotten, though they have been criminally ignored by RADIO, especially in AUSTRALIA, which was a very strong region for QUO in the 70's, early 80's & 1968 with PICTURES of MATCHSTICKMEN their debut Single that peaked at #12 in the USA,#19 in Australia, #7 UK, #18 Austria, #7 Germany, #4 Netherlands, #7 New Zealand, #5 Switzerland ICE in the SUN reached #70 in the USA & # 48 in Australia.
Kath, if Radio don't play a Band's new material, then the general public think that the Band or Artist is no longer in existence.
If you google any Band's Discography Wiki, you'll see the history of the regions where and when they've had success.
STATUS QUO are one of many Bands that still exist in name only, Francis Rossi is the only Original member.
QUO have been going for so long, that even their 'new' members have been in the Band for 40 years or 37 years or 10 years.
Richie Malone their 'new' Rhythm Guitarist replaced the deceased RICK PARFITT in 2016, which is 6 years, obviously.
However, some Bands don't last 6 years.

I'm going to Google SPINAL TAP to see if they're still touring somewhere.
The *** PISTOLS are currently on their 2022 Tour, with all Original members.
DURAN DURAN performed at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games playing their Mid-90'***** " Ordinary World "
I'm sure that there are plenty of other Bands that are still soldiering on.....................
