Stevie Wright was the lead singer for The Easybeats in the early 70’s. I was named after his 1974 song “Evie” which was a big hit in Australia. “Evie” is also the first song on the sound track of the movie Red Dog.

I really have to check out Mortal Sin, didn't know Australia had produced some 80s thrash metal groups.

I guess I should give a plug to my friends The Prairie Oysters who have have made country music accessible to a wide audience by mixing country, southern rock, rockabilly, rock ‘n’ roll and blues. Their shows have attracted large and diverse crowds including many who don’t normally call themselves country music fans. The Prairie Oysters have achieved a lot since their formation in 2006. They are based in Melbourne but play all over Australia. They recently won the 2011 AIADA (Australian Independent Artists Development) People's Choice Award.

The band released their debut album Livin’ For The Weekend in 2010 which has received rave reviews in Australia and internationally.

Jimmy's Dad was telling me when he was a lad he was a fan of a couple of Australian bands. He came over here from England to work in 1973 and went to see one of the bands at a festival which he has since found on youtube - The Coloured Balls doing Johnny B Goode and another of his favourites from the early 70s BPR.

Lot of Silverchair love which I can see why but for me I can only listen to Frogstomp and Freakshow. I tried their other eras and nope, far from likeable for me.
