1986 was a great year for rock, No.1 has to be Journeys faultless masterpiece "Raised On Radio", great thrash went mainstream with Metallica's "Master Of Puppets" and Anthrax "Spreading The Disease, saw both bands on tour that year in Cardiff on the same bill

Bon Jovi hit the rock mainstream big time with the classic "Slippery When Wet",nothing mainstream about Slayers legendary Reign In Blood-an album filled with some of the most brutal riffs Metal's ever seen.Dave Lee Roth released the fun pop/rock of "Eat 'em And Smile and Van Hagars "5150" wasn't too shoddy either, other great albums....

By 1986 I was a full fledged thrash head so my best of '86 would be mostly thrash.
I had about half of the albums on your original list, but I chose a few select ones out of the bunch that IMO stood out.

A hit and miss year. Some people say it was a bad year for rock since everyone was doing the synth thing, but it was a great year for pop and r&b
