I turned two that year, but still love a lot of the albums made that year.

In no particular order:
Journey - Escape
Foreigner - 4
Stevie Nicks - Bella Donna
Rush - Moving Pictures
ABBA - The Visitors (people who dismiss them as fluff need to hear this, their best album by far)
Genesis - ABACAB
Human League - Dare
Prince - Controversy
Pat Benatar - Precious Time
Ozzy - Blizzard Of Oz / Diary Of A Madmen
Duran Duran - Duran Duran
Olivia Newton-John - Physical
Police - Ghost In The Machine
Yoko Ono - Season Of Glass
Joan Jett - I Love Rock N' Roll
Van Halen - Fair Warning

I still say Moving Pictures. All of Rush's cylinders firing in unison. When a band becomes commercially viable without trying, they're probably doing something right.

1981 had so many great albums. I love the majority of what's been mentioned here.

Foreigner
Journey
Stevie Nicks
Genesis
Pat Benatar
Joan Jett
Police
etc, etc, etc...

Ladies and gentlemen....THE ROLLING STONES! I think "Tattoo You" is the last truly great Stones album. First song to last, there isn't one bum track in the bunch.

Has to be Van Halens "Fair Warning", packed full of classics, "Mean Streets","Sinners Swing", "Dirt Movies" and of course these three monster tracks......
