One of my fave Arlo Guthrie songs is from his album called, Washington County. The track is a Dylan cover titled, Percy's Song. Superb!

Arlo Guthrie is a legend in the area I live in. I grew up in Massachusetts and lived in Great Barrington, MA for quite awhile where the famous church in "Alice's Restaurant" is located. And just up the railroad tracks is Stockbridge, MA where the original Alice's restaurant was. It was all a true story and a local legend around here.

I heard Arlo Guthrie in an radio interview a few weeks ago, gee he had some funny stories about Pete Seeger and his Dad Woody. One of the funny stories he had was about an early Almanac Singers song "The Sinking of the Ruben James" which was a song about as the title suggests and I think originally Woody was trying to dedicate the song of all the people who died on that ship, though Pete said "No, the song was too long" or something along those lines. Arlo also had a funny story about a performance he was doing and decided to sing one of Pete Seeger's songs (with Pete present of course) and how Arlo was deliberately making mistakes in the song in order to get Pete up on stage to sing it properly. So funny. :D It was also Arlo's idea to get Pete to perform recently (I think he was 91 or something) :D
