Thought this guy needed a mention as someone has mentioned his father.

As a singer, songwriter and lifelong political activist, Arlo carries on the legacy of his legendary father. He was awarded the Peace Abbey Courage of Conscience award on September 26, 1992.

Arlo takes after his father, singing folk and protest songs, the most popular being, "Alice's Restaurant" which is some 18 minutes in length.

I have had the good fortune to catch him twice and each time he has had me spellbound.

Love Arlo...I seen him in concert once. Boy, he likes to talk and tell stories.
    :heheh:

Besides the classic ''Alice's Restaurant'' album, my other favorite Arlo albums are...

    Running Down the Road (1969)
    Washington County (1970)
    Hobo's Lullaby (1972)
Last of the Brooklyn Cowboys (1973)

1969 - 1973, Arlo Guthrie had a real nice run of good albums.

My family would always listen to Alice's Restaurant on a certain holiday I want to say thanksgiving, but I could be wrong. I just remember we'd all get into our car and put on the radio station that always plays it at noon on whatever holiday it was. Such a great song!

The film is top banana, I have a region 1 dvd, have had it for ages, got the album re-revisited which he did some time ago and joked at the time, " I released it in the sixties and thought I would have a hit album and then The Beatles released Sgt Peppers, I re-recorded it and released it again and The Beatles released the anthology and stopped me again". It is hard to find his albums now. most are imports and cost a fortune.

Love Arlo, but have seen him only once, about 20 years ago. And I agree with the others about his version of "City of New Orleans." As much as I love Goodman's own version, Arlo owns that song.
