Vegas Golden Knights are second overall. Not bad for an expansion team.

I miss the days of hard checking and roaming goons. It added an extra dimension of excitement to the game that is now missing ever since the European style has overtaken the rougher North American style of play.
Still watch from time to time but not like I used to.

Fighting has gone way down in the last number of years. Players are bigger, faster, stronger and skilled. The game is so fast now. Almost too fast due to the size of the ice surface. It's so tight out there that there is very little time and space. The game doesn't flow like it used to. It's more like a sprint if that makes since. With that being said it sure beats the neutral zone trap aka " the dead puck era" that was used by alot of teams in the late '90's and 2000's.

I also miss the days of the "enforcer". A fight could change the momentum of a game, set the table for the next meeting and the intimidation it would evoke on a team that couldn't match the "toughness". The anticipation of two "heavyweights" going at it. Bench clearing brawls were a helluva alot of fun to watch.

I loved the "Broad Street Bullies"(Flyers of the mid-'70's) back in the day. That team and what it represented had and still does to some degree the person who I am today. There's a great HBO documentary on the team. I think you would like it.
