German funeral doom band formed in 2004. These guys are pretty much all based on Moby D!ck (their name is the Captain's name in the novel) and much of their lyrics have to do with Moby D!ck.

Not sure why they chose that theme but it gets them remembered. The Call of the Wretched Sea is their best album. The Hunt is my favourite Ahab song and I love the piano in Old Thunder.

Discography
The Stream (Demo) - 2004
The Oath (EP) - 2005 (vinyl re-release 2007)
The Call of the Wretched Sea - 2006
The Divinity of Oceans - 2009 [5]
The Giant - 2012
The Boats of the "Glen Carrig" - 2015

Current members
Daniel Droste – guitar, vocals, keyboards
Christian Hector – guitar

Re: Ahab

I like this band, Extreme told me about them over a year ago so I found a copy of their album and of all the Doom bands, this is my favorite. Not that I am an expert in this realm though...lol.

Some people refer to them as "The Best Whale Metal Band on Earth"...:lmao:

Here's the cover, and it is one of the best I have seen in decades.

Re: Ahab

I don't know what it is about Funeral Doom, but I just can't wrap my ears in the music.

I have to admit, though, I do like the music in the vids. So I will definitely check this band out more. I like the piano and deep sounds........

Re: Ahab

I had to play this album a few times to get into it, but I don't really mind the "Rasp" vocals, they fit perfectly with the music and theme. But this is the Only band like this in my library.:D
