Well, I would agree with you that Aerosmith toned it down on Permanent Vacation and Pump (and everything afterwards), but imo 1984's Done With Mirrors is just a notch below Night In The Ruts. Good, solid rock.

I think this album is a bit hit and miss, I don't really like Combination, Home Tonight, or Rats In the Cellar, the rest are great, I'll only listen to live Back In the Saddle though... I really like Get the Lead Out, Lick and Promise, and Last Child, I don't care how worn out it is I love right when the fast part starts

on a side note, right as I clicked away from the Toys thread Sweet Emotion came on the radio
