I see there aren't many fans of 2000's rock music, so there's no sense in making a thread for each band I like, because there wouldn't be enough people there to participate. So now, I start this thread as a way of exposing some of my favourite bands of the last decade. Some of these bands are really famous, and others not that much, but I believe all of them to be very good and they deserve their space in this forum. I hope a lot of you get to know them and forget that prejudice that every rock band after Nirvana sucks (some of you even go way past Nirvana)

I would like to start the thread with one of my all-time favourite bands.

    The Libertines

The Libertines was one of those bands that started the PostPunk Revival or GarageRock Revival. They are from the UK and changed everything in that country as the century was just beginning. I like to consider them as The Clash meets Sex Pistols meets The Smiths. Not sure about The Smiths, but I kinda see some influence in their music. They are what you would define as a classick british rock band, and have some of the most loyal fans in the british music scene (some of them almost get to the point of being Hooligan-like).

The Libertines are formed by Carl Barat, Pete Doherty, John Hassall and Gary Powell. They had some issues with drugs (specially Pete Doherty who made global headlines for his drug issues and sentimental relationship with supermodel Kate Moss) and disbanded. But in 2010 they reunited to play in the Reading and Leeds Festivals (it is well known that a lot of people went to the festival mostly to see this reunion, leaving the premises after their performance, and before the performance of headliners Arcade Fire). Both of their albums were produced by Mick Jones of The Clash.

    Now here are some videos:

Very nice start Syd....I admit I don't know alot of these bands, I am much more into the European hard rock metal than our own bands of the last decade.

I'll be popping back in as you post other bands.

Wow! I had never heard of Asobi SEksu. It sounded quite interesting, even though I expected I wouldn't like at all. I could see the feeling in the song!

Thanks for visiting here guys. I've been kinda busy lately and that's why I haven't really updated the thread. But in the following days I'll try to post more often and with other cool bands.

    Today's band is:

    Kaiser Chiefs

Kaiser Chiefs is a band from Leeds, England, fronted by Ricky Wilson. They made an explosive debut in 2005 with the album 'Employment'. It's one of thoe albums that you can notice the retro feel. It combines a lot of New Wave/Punk Rock and it was hugely applauded by fans and critics, being compared with Franz Ferdinand. Both bands made a strong but very brief revival of what some call Art Rock.

It's featured in many lists as one of the best albums of the 2000's. Since 'Employment' they have released 2 other albums, but due to the quality of their debut, the other efforts have left critics wondering what has happened to the band. But their influence and popularity has increased in the last couple of years and they plan on releasing an album in 2011.
