i have always liked this album that Leslie West put out back in 1975,The Great Fatsby...mainly an album of covers but nevertheless a decent effort..The 2nd track here, his version of 'House of the Rising Sun,' is excellent.

I have a 2-4-1 German import cd that I recall buying from Tower Records in the world famous 'Piccadilly circus' in central London back in the 1990s which has The Leslie West band and The Great Fatsby albums on one discs and I am glad that I kept it cos I've never seen it around in any record shops since when I bought it. The Great Fatsby is a 'play on words' with the movie (film) called The Great Gatsby released in 1974 or 1975. The Lieslie West band disc has several 'guitar heavy riff' songs on it but the overall running time of the cd only runs to about 35 minutes (vinyl record times) and as for The Great Fatsby cd the band from memory covers a number of songs amongst which is a Free song called Little Bit of Love which was released by Free as a single in the UK in 1972 and the song If I Were a Carpenter and another song called High Roller which supposedly Mick Jagger of 'the stones' plays 2nd electric guitar on..

West, Bruce & Laing are still one of my top 5-favourite 70s 3-piece rock bands and as a rock band period!. Anyway I have all three West, Bruce & Laing's cd albums which are Why Dontcha, Whatever Turns You On & Live 'n' Kickin' and I still play all three cd/albums quite often during the year.
Much later on I read that Leslie and Corky went out on the road as West, Bruce junior & Laing with the 'Bruce junior' being Jack Bruce's son on bass.

i was living in London then and i had a ticket for this but unfortunately i couldn't go coz i had come down with a serious bout of influenza, i was really gutted..,i remember about 2 weeks earlier i had seen Rory Gallagher play 2 nights at The Dominion Theatre in London and i was fine, then not longer after i was off work and bedridden with the flu and couldn't make it to this Night of the Guitars concert, iirc i gave my ticket to this lass i worked with.

Remaining on the Mountain front. Here is an album of a supergroup that never was featuring Corky Laing and Felix Peppalardi of Mountain along with Mick Ronson and Ian Hunter..

This Laing/Hunter/Ronson/Pappalardi album is really a group of musicians having fun in the studio. Interesting, but not essential.
