Anyone heard "220 volt live"..? It's my favourite TD album even though it's very un-TD in the most classic sense. It's loaded with guitar solos and riffs. It even has a cover of Purple Haze at the end.
Other faves are Force Majeure and the Near Dark soundtrack
Ah Thin Lizzy - what a band. Robbo was a real hero round our way back in the day because he had gone to our school - Williamwood High School in Glasgow, which was a zoo back in the 70s....
Saw them on their first tour with the classic line up at Glasgow Apollo supporting BTO on 1st May 1975...
Saw 'em at Glasgow Apollo in 1978 with Schenker just before he left, and again in '79 with that bloke from Lone Star who came in as Schenkers replacement.
The '79 show was a bit disappointing for obvious reasons.....no Schenker, no flying V etc....
I think Mahogany Rush were one of those bands who never quite made it as big as they perhaps should have. If memory serves, they were somewhat criminally underrated back in the 70s and I'm as guilty as anyone else for largely ignoring them at the time and I bloody well wish I hadn't. Great...
Of the two albums listed : Technical Ecstasy - but I have to add that I really don't think much of either of these albums and even back then thought that they were on a decline which began with Sabotage.
The first 5 albums were the actual Sabbath classics and after that...well, they were just...
Tricky one.... Anything by Mozart is probably about the most accessible to the new listener - particularly the symphonies, and if you want to listen to some spectacular vocal work try his operas - Die Zauberflöte is probably the most well known.
If you like piano, try Chopin or there is also...
Personal taste I suppose. I don't really rate Led Zep all that highly but Led Zep 4 was probably their high point and I love this song and have never gotten sick of it. Their best song without a doubt (in my opinion)
And........... 1979 Vantage VP700 which was made in the old Matsumoku factory in Japan.
I got this for peanuts on ebay and it's totally beat up. It was a wreck when it came to me and cosmetically still is but after cleaning it up and putting some new control knobs on, I plugged it in to...
Oops, I must've pressed the wrong button on my computer this morning as I seem to have come to the Classic Karaoke Forum instead of the Classic Rock Forum....
Pretty girl though....:ro:
Is it her dad who makes the cornflakes...?
That's a nice old Fender bass you have there. Short scale neck right..?
Here's a pic of my favourite bass from my own collection. It's a 1983 Aria pro II SB 900 fretless. I've owned it from new and it's been all over the world but has survived almost completely intact and still looks like new...
Hi there,
I was very interested to read your opinions given above and it goes to show that everything in music is down to personal taste and little else..
To elaborate on what you've written, as a long time Yes fan I would say that Yes have never for a single moment of their long career been...
Love at first Sting I think in the No 1 spot
Rising Force at No 2 and I agree with you about Yngwie and his widdling...:D This album and "Live in Leningrad" were the only two Yngwie albums I ever really bothered with.
The rest in no particular order and only because I had to choose, they're...
Pretty fine. I listened to all three songs and liked them all. Not bad at all....
For what it's worth I think the high energy parts of the songs are better and stronger than the quieter parts, but overall it's pretty damned good stuff all round : well composed, well played and nicely...
Dude. Trust me. You're on the wrong forum with this stuff. It's robotic, instantly forgettable, throwaway rubbish.
Try Soundcloud as I suggested before. It'll be much more suited to what you're trying to do and you'll get on much better there.
To be brutally honest, this kind of thing doesn't...
Hey Kirk.
Not bad my friend, not too bad at all, at least as far as the first two vids are concerned. I liked them both. Some nice guitar sounds there and some good compositional ideas. There are some timing issues with the third one so maybe a little bit of work is required there to fix that...
This is one that passed me by at the time so I'm going to put it on my list and give it a listen. Like a few others here I can take Coverdale or leave him, and that generally goes for Page too who I sometimes think is a bit of a fake after I saw him really f*ck up the solo in Stairway to Heaven...
