OK see this is uncalled for and your just being an ass. I've come to the conclusion no one is going to agree with me so I figured their wasn't much point in going on about it. I'm autistic so I'm not particularly great with wording things and besides I'm not trying to convince you to dislike...
I agree about Iommi he is a God and although I think Sabbath is a better band Throbbing Gristle were much colder, harsher, and inhuman. In some ways TG make Slayer look tame.
I think its a bit silly to hate the band just for selling out. I actually dislike most everything they've done (except for RTL as you've mentioned). The thing is its not like I just sat there and said hmm I'm not going to like this band because they're popular I've honestly tried to get into...
Wasn't trying to have an argument dude just a bit of chatter. I never said that nobody could like Metallica or had to like the same things I do. I have been criticized for not kissing ass when it comes to Metallica, Slayer, and Iron Maiden though. I just feel in some ways these bands are more...
Were talking about thrash metal. Its not supposed to be pretty. Also being more accessible doesn't make something better. Besides AC/DC is a very mainstream band with an arguably harsh vocalist who you could barely understand yet they are well accepted.
I love the Years of Decay myself. I love Metal but the Punk, Industrial, Electronic, and Noise groups were ahead in terms of brutality. Would've loved if thrash bands took some influence from Power Electronics.
His vocals significantly improved when the band went into a more progressive metal direction starting with Killing Technology. His streagnth was always more so in his attitude than his voice though.
Morbid Saint had some pretty harsh vocals. I don't see why its important to hear the lyrics in music this extreme. Perhaps poor example using Bathory but how about Overkill? Oh and Bathory best stuff was what he did from 1986-1990 IMHO. Also a lot of these bands were around before or at the...
Its more prevalent in certain eras of the band but he's always seemed to have a bit of redneck in there, at least from my perspective. I don't think thrash always call for a good voice I mean Megadeth and Voivod don't have great voices but they fit perfect with the music. That said I straight up...
Honestly James vocals really do remind me of that type of music. Its sorta low pitched redneck thing going not really country but late southern rock I guess. Im not good at describing these things but I feel Metallica transcended so well into pop because his voice was perfect for a 90s rock...
So basically accessibility made Metallica the giants people see them as? Personally ive always hated James's vocals and in fact it kinda reminds me of Nu-metal and Nickelback type voices.
Voivod took me some time getting used to but damn am I glad I did. Lets also consider that Overkill made thrash songs before Metallica. Heck thrash can be traced back to Black Sabbath and Queen. I think Metallica just got an album out first and was well advertised. I think Discharge was actually...
Much of Pink Floyds musc was not of what people generally see as the norm but they are legends and a staple of classic rock radio. Im just surprised that comment I made turned you off of the thread when that is what the thread title suggests this thread would be about.
