The Cherokees (Aust. Band) (Official Thread)

They were a great band but have not been served well in the reissues stakes. I'd like to see a definitive Best Of.

    Beggar's Banquet vs Strange Days

    Stones, no question.
  3. M

Wheels Of Fire vs Electric Ladyland

Hors categorie (I think that's how it's spelt) as they say in the Tour de France, for both. Can't choose.
  4. M

James Gang Rides Again vs Nantucket Sleighride

Mountain. good to see them feature in some of these polls.

Climbing! vs Ridin' the Storm Out

    No contest. Mountain.

Are You Experienced vs Axis Bold As Love.

Can't fit a cigarette paper between them, so I couldn't vote.

Electric Ladyland vs. The White Album

The White Album is a mess, despite some good tracks, so it's Jimi for me.

Best Run of Three or More Consecutive Albums

    The first three Ramones albums.

Rubber Soul vs Let It Bleed

I can't separate them. Both are essential.

    Let it Bleed vs Abraxas

Stones. Essential album. "Gimme Shelter" is one of the best rock songs of all time.

    Cream vs. The Who

Cream. Just. Live at Leeds is the only non-anthology Who album I have.

Highway 61 Revisited vs Are you Experienced?

Jimi, though it's a close one.
  13. M

Are You Experienced vs Fresh Cream

    I can't separate them!!
  14. M

    Creedence Clearwater Revival vs Steppenwolf

CCR. Although Steppenwolf are pretty humorous.
  15. M

    Mott vs Ziggy Stardust

Ziggy by a mile. Mott are pretty limited.
  16. M

    London Calling vs The Wall

The Clash are magnificent. Pink Floyd are IMHO one of the worst bands ever to make it big. Self-indulgent twaddle for adolescent boys. Sorry to hurt anyone's feelings if you like them, but they are one of those bands I cannot bear.

Ramones vs The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars

Ramones. Transcends everything. Ziggy is great, but a bit dated.
  18. M

Cosmo's Factory vs. Exile On Main St

It has to be Cosmo's - a great band at their peak. Exile is a bit patchy to me. Also, it has a bit of mythology about it, a rather inflated reputation. There are better Stones albums: Let It Bleed, Beggars' Banquet, etc.....
  19. M

Rocket To Russia vs. Combat Rock

The Ramones were in their prime, The Clash were on their last legs. Combat Rock has some fantastic music on it, well, on side one, but The Ramones win this by a few lengths.
  20. M

    Bayou Country vs Toulouse Street

CCR. Simply the greatest American rock band.
  21. M

    Who's Next vs Sticky Fingers

The Stones were in their pomp; The Who were beginning a long decline. I always thought The Who were a great singles band but that their albums were patchy. The Stones are just magnificent.
  22. M

Marquee Moon Vs. The Stone Roses

Television. I thought the Stone Roses were a good band but seriously over-hyped.
  23. M

Living in the Past vs Wheels of Fire

Cream. This album has "Crossroads" live on it. No contest.
