Metallica Fans Threaten To Kill Lou Reed

Rarely are WTFs wrong. So if that's what you were thinking when you heard the project announced... No one should have been surprised by the result. As for the fanboys... not much surprise there, either.

The effect of a bands popularity/fanbase based on the vocalist

Gotta agree with the sentiment; vocals are as much a part of the song as the instruments supporting it. If one contributor is off, the whole thing is unappealing.

    Zeppelin II or IV

Yes, but you can't listen to Side 4 of Led Zeppelin II on the car stereo during your date. :D LZII for me. IV might be considered their masterwork, but II just plain rocks harder and that's what my preference is. I'll take PG over IV.

Reckless.. Judas Priest Or Steel Dragon

Hmm... Steel Dragon? The fictional movie band? That pic looks like Steelheart. I know this song was used briefly in Rock Star, but didn't know it was ever released. At any rate, it rocks but doesn't compare to The Priest.

Alice Cooper thinks alcohol should be illegal

With all due respect, Mr. Cooper. But, if all illegal drugs were suddenly legal, do you think the death rate might climb? Perhaps to eclipse alcohol and cigarettes? /facepalm

    Montrose / Gamma (Official Thread)

It's an enigma; most people aren't quick to put much stock in Ronnie Montrose's influence on the modern guitarist, but read interviews with some of the biggest names in rock and metal today and they'll mention him. Put together a list of those who are famous for slinging a low-slung Les Paul...

    Sweden!

Sweden is tearing it up. Beyond all the metal they're tossing out, it's their revival of melodic rock I find so amazing. It's as if they're willing it to return. Treat is an amazing band. Their latest release, Coupe De Grace, is pretty good. Another band, Fatal Smile, a much heavier band...

Van Halen cancels 2012 European tour

This isn't surprising in the least. It was almost expected. I think it's irritating because this band had such a profound impact when they first hit the scene and then crushed everyone for the next 5 years with Roth. Hagar's tenure brought them greater exposure but everyone clamors for the...

    U. F. O. (Official Thread)

UFO is pretty much my all-time favorite band. They were headlining my second concert, back in 1977 (Cheap Trick in support) in Hammond, Indiana. I have Force It as their best album and I too, think Strangers In The Night is the best live hard rock album ever recorded. More than just the...

    Montrose / Gamma (Official Thread)

Montrose debut might be my #2 all-time favorite LP. I remember being floored when first hearing the guitar work on that thing. It was without doubt crucial to me becoming a hard rock fanatic. Funny thing is, despite the guitar being the primary factor in this band's sound, I wound up being a...

    How did you find CRF?

Researching bands from the '70's because I was a teenager back then and, let's face it, I can't remember where I left my glasses half the time, so I needed some help. This forum pulled the top hit. I started nosing around, liked what I saw and here I is.
