Here is my Classic Rock story

welcome to the world of classic rock. Your Gramma is awesome! Go tell her that right now, we'll wait...............you told her? Well, ok then. You're in for a treat, a lifetime of the discovery of great music: the 60's, 70's, and the 80's. I've been listening to classic rock and metal for...

    Your last audio cassette purchase

about 9 months ago I started collecting and listening to cassettes again, but only if they appear to be in very good shape and preferably the chrome ones and reissues in the 90's of 70's and 80's albums. The old 70's tapes that look like theyve been played 250 times, not so much. And cassettes...

    Music you've outgrown....?

I agree. I have experienced a sort of renaissance of thrash the last few years but mainly the 80's and early 90's stuff I hadn't heard in years. But the extreme/death/black metal stuff I just can't hear more than a song or two at a time before it bores me too. I'll always love the classic thrash...

    Your Favourite "Classic Prog" Album

I chose 2112 to break the 5-way tie! Actually there are so many great albums on this poll, but I just wanted to give Rush some love.....

Deep Purple In Rock vs Rush 2112

Love em both, although they are six years apart (in the early 70's six years is like 10 or 15) so it's hard to compare. 2112 is like comfort food to me, where with DP's In Rock, half the songs I've known for decades and the other half only about 9 or 10 years. It blows me away everytime I hear...

    Rush (Official Thread)

Indeed, and for me the '75-'81 era of Rush is one of my favorite catalogs of music of any band or artist. And as for Caress Of Steel, I agree that it is one of the great underrated rock classics.

    Men At Work (Official Thread)

Funny, I think I wrote that about 5 years ago. I think I'm more of a fan than just the hits. I think they are a really cool band and I shouldve given them a bit more credit than just saying I like the hits.

    Psalm 9

I gave it an 8, but really about an 8.5 or so. I bought this in 1984 after hearing The Last Judgement on the MM comp. I love this album and always have. Wouldnt change a thing about it.

    Somewhere In Time

I voted 9, but really about a 9.2 or so. Loved it since day one, especially side 2. Epic band performances on this, a natural progression from Powerslave and the live album.

    The Mob Rules

I voted 8 but really about 8.5. Side 1 is amazing, wouldnt change a thing about it. Side 2 isnt as good but it does have "Falling", which is terrific. Classic Dio performance.

    Master Of Reality

love it. A 9 or maybe a little more. I didnt grow up listening to this but I knew Sweet Leaf, Children, and After Forever. After listening to the whole album for quite a while now, I really love side 2, especially Into The Void. Love the detuned sound for 1971, gotta be the heaviest album around...

    ...And Justice For All

loved this the day I bought it back in '88. Maybe my 5th or 6th fave Metallica release. I mustof played this album a thousand times on cassette, vinyl, and cd. I never tire of it, although these days I like to skip songs around, usually play the title track last cause it's kinda kills the...

Thread Closed What Are You Listening To?

i recently started playing cassettes again for the first time in over a decade or so. I found a ton of em at a thrift store for a dime each, 70's rock and 80's heavy metal. Playing Rush Archives right now. "Hey baby, it's a quarter to eight........"

The song stuck in your head thread!

christmas music. It's not even December yet and I am not only sick of christmas music but now they are all stuck in my head. If I hear another Toby Keith version of Winter Wonderland again, I can't be held responsible for the mayhem that ensues.
