Re: Rolling Stones ~ Exile On Main Street
"Let It Loose" is maybe the most musically impressive song on "Exile on Main Street", with beautiful instrumentation and also nice lyrics and a great vocal.
"Even Flow" by Pearl Jam
"Even flow
thoughts arrive like butterflies
Oh, he don't know
so he chases them away"
Even Flow lyrics could be about homeless but that doesn't entirely make sense. What about the "when he's happy looks insane, oh yeah". And by the way, Eddie Vedder is a genius...
Re: Rant ~~~ Ian Hunter
Rant is definitely one of Hunter's best albums in many, many years. It's a stunning effort in songwriting prowess and tasteful arrangements. My favorite song off of here is "Wash Us Away".
I think Revolver would have to be my all time favorite, because just about every song is beautifully crafted. I find the majority of the song writing to be stronger and more enduring.
LaVette isn't confined by the melodies and arrangements of these songs because she says she heard them differently in the first place. She allows The Moody Blues' "Nights In White Satin" to soar but also anchors it to something and gives it weight.
