Quiz time (for fans of the old Alexis Korner / Paul Jones radio shows)

Hi. Years ago, I would tape the songs I liked from these shows and now my old cassette recordings are FLAC files. I didn't always write down the song titles and artists but with Shazam etc I've identified the vast majority. However, thirteen remain unknown to me and I'd be delighted if anyone...

    'Blues' interlude by Ritchie Blackmore

Hi. I know that Rainbow On Stage incorporates the above (the track 2 medley) but was it ever done by Ritchie as part of Deep Purple? And, if so, on which album? Many thanks.

    Led Zeppelin (Official Thread)

Hi. As a lad, I taped the 1 April 1971 BBC show off the radio and it's what I listened to for many years. When I got the 'BBC Sessions' CD, I really missed the between-song chat. I now have the Empress Valley CD called 'The Complete BBC Radio Sessions' and it certainly seems to be complete bar...

    Your preferred Internet Radio station?

Thanks again to you all. No luck with Pandora:- "We are deeply, deeply sorry to say that due to licensing constraints, we can no longer allow access to Pandora for listeners located outside of the U.S. We will continue to work diligently to realize the vision of a truly global Pandora, but for...

    Your preferred Internet Radio station?

Thanks all, especially gguerra - your first link led me to Sky.FM Classic Rock which, at first glance, is quality fare. There's a helluva selection within the Sky.FM range of stations so I'll be adding their Blues, 60's and 70's channels to my 'favourites'. JerseyGirl - no offence, honest! I...

    Your preferred Internet Radio station?

Probably my favourite piece of modern technology is my Pure Evoke internet radio. At long last, doing the washing up in the kitchen is a pleasure.... However, I'm still looking for a 'perfect' Classic Rock station. To my mind, 'classic rock' is primarily a) British and b) late 60s to mid...

    B. B. King (Official Thread)

Hi, and thanks for that. I'm still convinced that's BB on my clip though. And it seems there IS an album: B.B. King - Lucille Talks Back (Vinyl, LP) at Discogs Unfortunately, any copy I find has a different tracklist which omits 'Reconsider'. Damn..

    B. B. King (Official Thread)

Re: B. B. King Hi. Firstly, this IS 'Reconsider Baby' by BB King, am I right?: Name that tune of style Jazz, Blues on WatZatSong. - 'Reconsider Baby', sounds like BB King but I can't find it on any of his albums. If indeed BB, where's this from? If so, from which studio album is this? I...

Fantastic ending to an unknown song

Hi. Back in the 80's I switched the radio on and just managed to grab the tail end of a great song. The band's name wasn't given, unfortunately. Have a listen to this, you'll love it but who are they??? (I'm fairly sure we can ignore the Humble Pie reference.) Humble Pie - Rolling Stone...

    Clap by Yes

That's the one! Many thanks indeed, joe, you're a pal. Thanks for your input too, Magic. I wasn't expecting you to listen to tracks for me - since you're familiar with 'Clap' I was just curious to know if, like me, you noted how the track I uploaded had similarities to it in a couple of...

Thanks Magic, I'll check out those albums. Would you agree that my track includes excerpts of Clap?

    Clap by Yes

Well, here we go then - an mp3 version of a toon I recorded to cassette 30 years ago. Isn't technology grand? Grooveshark - Listen to Free Music Online - Internet Radio - Free MP3 Streaming So - is it Yes/Howe and, if so, from which album? If not Howe, who? Many thanks for listening -...

    Clap by Yes

Thanks, but can't be that. I taped it circa 1980. I'll maybe have to digitise it and post a copy.

    Clap by Yes

Hi. Going through my old cassette tapes of stuff recorded at a friend's house in the 80's, I've found a guitar piece which I've called Clap/Yes. I went to get the album (The Yes Album) recently and there are two versions on it - live and studio. But neither is the same as the one I have. I...

[Resolved] file hosting sites - which one(s)?

Not surprising - it's from a cassette tape that's about 23 years old and was taped off the radio on a basic radio/cassette deck.

[Resolved] file hosting sites - which one(s)?

Thanks Magic. But I think I'll stick with Grooveshark for any future song uploading I may want to do.

[Resolved] file hosting sites - which one(s)?

Well, Grooveshark isn't as user-friendly as I'd hoped but I think I've got there. This is just a test - is this how I'd post a Grooveshark link in the 'name that tune' forum?:- Grooveshark - Listen to Free Music Online - Internet Radio - Free MP3 Streaming (Edit - yeah, that works fine.)...

[Resolved] file hosting sites - which one(s)?

Hi. I've been going through old cassettes of stuff recorded off the radio and there are some tracks I don't recognise. Hopefully the folk here may be able to assist. I'vbe made mp3 copies of the songs in question but are there any restrictions/preferences on which file hoster to use e.g...

    Female bands/artists of the 70's

Gotta be Fanny. By chance, saw them on an old episode of Old Grey Whistle Test and just had to get all their albums. One of the best things I ever did.
