Anyone else have an experience like this - I got the first 2 albums early and was getting into them so bought OK Computer day 1 and was blown away. Told ALL my friends how amazing this band was and way more than just "Creep" - and NO ONE listened. Until years later when everyone was into...
Tough to pick between them for different reasons. I like a lot of songs from both groups. Both standout vocalists in different ways. But oddly I realized that since I've heard the songs I like from both these bands over years so many times, I literally NEVER intentionally put on either of these...
Not normally the type of tunes I dig but discovered this one and love the beat and it's a great driving song - 8/10
Without You (featuring Usher) - David Guetta
I just discovered this remarkable singer songwriter, Labi Siffre, and don't know why I never heard of him before, since he's amazing and has been sampled by some well known tunes over the years.
Not the slick kinda pop but the dam catchy, hear it once and you're singing along by the end kind of pop.
A true talent if you can write and make songs like that. I posted Marshall Crenshaw on another thread who I think is one of the best, so now I'm posting another of my favorites - Fountains...
Buddy Guy is the man and my favorite blues player and singer.
So cool, talented and funny as hell.
He inspired the Stones, Clapton, Hendrix, and many more.
Here's one of my favorite tunes of his - Five Long Years.
Stones are great no doubt but the Beatles volume of remarkable songs plus the evolution of the music/techniques/production over their short less than 10 years of putting out records blows the Stones out of the water.
OK - there are many favorite songs we all have - but then there are isolated moments (could be a riff, solo, intro, etc.) of songs that hit us on a deep, emotional soul level but that AREN'T necessary from our favorite song(s).
What's your favorite moment from a song that isn't even one of...
I actually owned this album and lost countless hours of my youth to arcade and Atari games. When I heard these songs at the time i thought it was the coolest thing ever. Think they actually reunited to do a song for the Disney film Wreck It Ralph.
The "3rd" side of III Sides To Every Story with the interweaving tunes and orchestration show Nuno's genius and I listen to all 3 tracks every once in a while. I truly think they're (he's) underrated.
XTC is truly incredible and I am consistently amazed more people don't know their work or that they didn't find more fame (perhaps because they stopped touring when Andy Partridge quit over stage fright issues?). Everyone should give a listen - so many incredible tunes. Also, if you're one of...
Gonna throw another in the mix that randomly just popped into my head, just to keep the conversation going. This one isn't so much beauty (which most choices I'd have would be) as it is clever. I love Elvis Costello and his witty word play throughout his career. One of his mid-career songs was...
