Tribute to the 28 Musicians That Died in 2017

We love our hard rock here in the UK. Well, we kind of invented it...:D To be fair, having taken a long blues sabbatical from it up until about, well, somewhere between 5 and 10 years ago when I came back to the rockers, I have found quite a few American bands who are (or were - not sure how...

I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that generally, Steve Vai just isn't for me. It's just that on those two DLR albums, he's actually playing some stuff I like. It is more to do with his rhythm work, and how his playing is complementing the songs, his punctuation of the vocal lines. It's the...

Been listening a lot to these two albums recently: Not so much for the songs themselves, but I'm intrigued by Steve Vai's rhythm playing, fills etc. Maybe I can pick something up from some of it, although obviously his faster lead stuff is waaaay beyond me lol.

On of my favourite ladies of blues/blues-rock. Energetic, great slide guitar work.

A great riff will always be a great riff. It's not always about how many notes you cram into a couple of bars :grinthumb

I toyed with the idea of getting the vid., but decided I wanted to put it in my mixes. 'Loud Hailer' is indeed an excellent album!

Buddy Guy to release "The Blues Is Alive and Well" on June 15th!

Cool, look forward to it. I'm a big fan of Buddy's, and love the stuff he collaborates with others on. There have been some crackers on previous albums.

Added this ^^ to the collection yesterday. I did a post yesterday but it seems to have disappeared; maybe I put too many pics in it, as I had a bit of a spree yesterday. This is the other new album I grabbed: Can't go wrong with this band!

I've seen Buddy Guy twice live. He did a walkabout through the audience one of those times, and stood right in front of me playing. A mate who was with me said afterwards, "he stood and played for you!" He couldn't get over it, lol. I think I said something like, "come on Buddy, I want to steal...

Just watched a documentary about Jeff Beck on tv, and decided it was time I expanded my JB collection, so I'm listening to these: And hadn't gotten around to giving it a proper listen, so threw this in the mix for good measure: I think this mix is going to be on for a few days!

Jeff Beck or Stevie Ray Vaughan?

SRV. Beck had a wider perspective on styles, but much of his stuff doesn't click with me. I pretty much learned to play guitar from the "Live at The El Mocambo" video and a tab book of SRV stuff. That video performance blew my socks off, and is still my all-time favourite music video.
