Best British Band of the 90's
There are plenty of hit songs by all those bands, but the one album I like the best out of all those groups is The Verve's Urban Hymns so that's who gets my vote -- even though I think they only released one single (that I know of) from that album ("Bittersweet Symphony"). And is any compilation of 70's rock music really complete without "Easy Living" by Uriah Heep? I think not. I do like "Radar Love" and "Frankenstein" that were mentioned in the first post. I think what I was trying to say is how Heavy Metal music was defined in the early 70's by those who were in the music business back then. Iron Maiden (Official Thread)
Speaking of Iron Maiden... I finally got my Iron Maiden 8-Track tape in yesterday's mail which finally fulfills my commitment with Columbia House. :) -
Favourite Concert Beginnings.
I think my all-time favorite for beginning a concert isn't just the song "Sweet Jane" by Lou Reed, but the intro to the song (which at 3:20 is almost a song in itself). The note-perfect, lead guitar tradeoffs between Dick Wagner and Steven Hunter are as good as it gets for me. Turn it up!!- Dave78

Is the album "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" heavy metal?
The brand of "Heavy Metal" that existed in the early-to-mid 70's might be primitive compared to the "Metal" genres of the 80's (Hair, Speed, Thrash), but Black Sabbath was considered Heavy Metal in the 70's (as was Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple), and just because Metal's sound has evolved since...- Dave78
